How much do we really know?

Image of JustinIt’s interesting to see how little many people know about the world and the plethora of technology that are available and being innovated each and every day.

I certainly don’t pretend to know it all and am constantly being amazed at what is available to us to use not only for personal use but in the area of teaching, training and education. To this purpose as a student at Curtin University studying the effects of Technology in the Classroom and how we can use current innovations in a classroom setting, I have already been exposed to many technologies I was previously unaware of or uneducated in.

I am certainly looking forward to continuing my journey on this course and finding out more and more about what technology has to offer educators and how we can use this vast tool to aid the learning of not only ourselves but our students. Active learning and Authentic education is so important these days and being able to incorporate technology into lessons is becoming more and more necessary in order to keep our lessons relevant to our students and interesting enough to hold their attention.

Which bring me back to the title. How much do we really know about technology and its uses in the classroom? What are we confident in? What don’t we know enough about? This course has already shown me that I don’t know as much as I sometimes would like to think I do. I guess we all can learn something new every day!

I agree completely. Everyday I learn something new about teaching and technologies that can be used in teaching, things that i had never thought could be used in that context. With new things being created and updated everyday i thing we will be forever expanding our knowledge and skills of technology in the classroom

How true Justin – it seems that some new innovation is appearing every day. Many teachers are embracing some of the technologies and incorporating them into their teaching (see http://www.podkids.com.au/) with amazing success. Where as others are almost reluctant to turn on the computers in their classrooms.

Keep up the enthusiasm when you get out into a school and maybe you can help lead the way for other educators.

I agree also. I have never used a blog before because…I am American and as yall know blogs aren’t exactally encouraged. I have never thought of using a blog in an educational way but it seems like a fantastic idea. I know so little about technology and all the benefits on the internet these days, but as you said this class has already opened my eyes to so much. I look forward to learning more in this class.

hey fantastic first blog. I agree as well I still don’t think blogs are the right things to be using in the classroom but I’m willing to give this new technology a shot.
